The Stuff We Save

My grandmother on my dad’s side, Shirley Clark, passed away in the fall of 2011.
She, of course, left all her worldly possessions; she was a bit of a hoarder. Much of
it was not junk, though; it was trinkets and things she brought back from traveling the world. After her funeral, I knew I had to document the house before it was
completely cleaned up to be sold. I am thankful I did. My aunt told the house was
unrecognizable after it was cleaned.

It can seem crazy to us looking in at all of this stuff. It’s so easy to think, “How
could you let it get to this point,” but for some people, there is an attachment to
the material things that defy all logic and reason.
